Archaeological Dig

Archaeological DigWork on a real Archaeological Dig in the Boyne Valley during the summer season. No experience is necessary, you will be be directed by experienced Archaeologists. Children are welcome at the adjacent Dig-it-Kids fun activity camp.

Team up with professional archaeologists excavating a buried 13th century Dominican Friary in Trim. You will be taken into the discovery zone where you will have lots of fun whilst learning the skills of an Archaeologist. This wonderful site is a rich store of archaeological and history. The excavation is unearthing lost buildings and artefacts buried for over 700 years.

The excavations are directed by the Irish Archaeology Field School, a provider of university accredited, site based archaeological research and training. The ethos of the school is to provide an opportunity for students and enthusiasts of archaeology and anthropology to experience at first hand the excitement of archaeological excavation in a teaching environment.
